so i wanted to decorate my house and got some ideas and had to put my homework down. i hit up goodwill and i like to think i totally scored. not only was it goodwill but half off! i have some before and afters of what i did.

Candles.
focus on the gold and black ones in the picture on the left. they came with those lovely orange "candles" but those made it to the trash, unfortunately. anywho.

they got painted turquoise, black and cream. i sanded them and rubbed on ralph lauren faux glaze in black silk [thank you vintagerevivals] to give them an old antique look. also, those books that the blue one is on are some old books i stapled together then covered with scrapbook paper and rubbed the faux glaze and wrapped string around em. the candles were all different colors but i spray painted them cranberry. i didn't feel like spending more money on matching candles. next item of business: paint that gold vent.

NEXT!

also from goodwill. it had a matching one and i
thought eh i'm fine without it. kept walkin around and couldn't stop thinking about it's twin and went back to snatch it up and a lady was lookin at it
then put it in her basket! ah that's what i get.

alrighty i painted this cream and shhhmeared the faux glaze on it. looks more of a gray now not so much cream but it's cool. reminds me of a barn. "bliss" isn't perfect but it will do for now and it doesn't get seen up close and personal all the time.
it was quite difficult to do. i'm new to this whole vinyl junk and i decided to do the lettering backwards on the back of the glass so that it would really be like the word is framed. never gonna do this again. it's a pain in the butt. if you zoom in on the s you can see junk. it difficult to get the letters/glass perfectly clean and no junk
on the letters. i will figure out another way to do it next time. my kitchen up top is painted yellow so i think it kind of makes a nice background for the "picture"

this was another vinyl done backwards.
the first time i did it i put the big L down first and then remembered that you wouldn't be able to see the r so i had to start all over. also difficult with keeping everything clean and junk. but i think it turned out well. i think it could make a good christmas present too! if people like this style of course...

this was just an old wood frame i had and painted it turquoise and gave it a nice rub down with the faux glaze. i'm quite pleased with my entry way now:)

now. halloween decor. found a new lovely blog [vintagerevivals.blogspot.com]<--where i got the faux glaze idea and she did these
things she called "junk-ins" and they're quite
awesome. i think hers look better but here is my version... to see how she did it check out her page/tutorial [hurr]

so, when i get the chance i watch the nate berkus show. not every episode is the best but sometimes it's just fabulous and makes me go crazy cuz i wish i could do everything. i will admit. i was not a fan of him replacing my bonnie hunt but i think he came at a perfect time. i love
decorating shows and i unfortunately do not have cable so i can't watch hgtv:( anywho. he was talking about goin to flea markets to get good junk. then he made like a collage on the wall with different pages from books and framed them and made a collage on the wall. i thought it looked pretty cool with maps and junk. maybe i will do that for greg sometime or something. he likes maps. so i decided to just make a collage on my wall with pix. my lil friend taryn did it at her house before, and before nate [she's cool...] but i pitched the idea to myself, taryn, and greg then greg n i made our way over to savers for a halloween costume and found frames. the most expensive one: $2.99. score. i didn't take a before picture so sorry but this is what i have. i'm starting to think my house colors are black, red, turquoise, and cream...
thanks to greg for using his man power to hang all these for me.

i'm trying to hide the bloody wood paneling.
well that's about all the crafts i have been up to. i'm trying to think of what i can do for christmas! i'm excited. especially excited for this whole school junk to be done so it can stop slowin me down!:P

  2. First off, Thanks for the shout out. Haha. Second off, you should go back and count how many times you said "junk" it started cracking me up towards the end. Third off, everything is so cute!(I just scanned my BLAH house.)

p.s. that pretty much sucks about the twin frame. Shuda snatched that thing. that size is HARD TO COME BY...it seems anyway, I dont really know.
