WWJCD?

i saw this on pinterest this morning, thought of greg, and found the perfect board thing at ReStore this morning, found all the exact fonts and made it:)

greg was very happy bout it.

he loves johnny cash.

now we gotta find a spot to hang it...

other projects.

i did some other things today too. i found this quote on a blog, Twiddler House, and decided to copy it and make my own! not sure why i decided to do this one out of all the other quotes i have but i did! so here ya go.

i'm pretty happy with it. i was gonna do the stenciling like i did on the other boards but i'm like uhh you have brown vinyl just use that...instead of painting it brown, laying down vinyl, painting over it, and taking the vinyl off...

so i had already painted the area brown, then painted over it with some gold paint and sprayed some lighter yellow and gave it a good sanding. all the colors pulled through! woohoo!

first lil baby decoration.

i painted the glass pink [same as the cradle, ballet slipper by krylon:)] then put brown vinyl over it.

ta-da! i'm still working on another thing...it's causing some probs but hopefully it will be done by the end of the night.

cradle

we got a hand-me-down cradle from greg's aunt and uncle. it hasn't been used in probably 20 years. i asked greg if i could paint it and he said i could:) thank ya jesus.

so here is how it started.

over time, the "antique white" has antiqued itself.

sooo i camo'd it just for greg:)

kiiiiddding... he came home to that ^ then later came out while i was doing more and nicely asked "soooo what's your plan?" he was kiiiinda scared.

sloppily primed.

i think it looks cute.

then i "antiqued" it with a bit of sanding and brown glaze.

i just finished it today so i haven't heard greg's thoughts yet. i don't really know what mine are. i kinda wish i didn't sand and glaze.

some parts look a little chalky. perhaps if i put a clear coat on it. i like the way the stand turned out tho!:)

i'm gonna wait til greg gets home and hear his 2 cents before i do anything else...aye. i might spend another couple hours sanding those dumb dots off and repaint. 3.5 cans of pink!! it's krylon and i'm not a huuuge fan of krylon--rustoleum is so much better. greg did give me a little sprayer attachment thing that seems to only work with krylon but it makes painting easier!

baby junk!!

sooo we have a few baby things now [besides tons of clothes:)] and thought i'd share. i haven't had any baby showers yet so more to come but here's a start.

here's the crib! it's not COMPLETELY finished but pretty darn close.

greg designed it and built a majority of it...i helped when/where i could.

it's walnut and paduke.

it's designed to be a 3-in-1, so the head/foot board will fit a full size bed.

JOGGGGEEERRR! i'm soo excited bout this thing.

of course, there is stella comin to check things out...

fancy lil travel system. woot woot! she'll be joggin asap.

btw: those are lil speakers that you can hook up your ipod so you can jam.

here are some blankets i kinda helped with and my MIL made/finished.

this one i think i tied most of it myself.

this one seems sooo comfy. it's soo soft and then siiiilky. i sure hope she likes it cuz i'm gonna wrap her up in it all the time:)

i didn't help with this one. that would require me to be handy with a sewing machine.

this was the first one we did, so we each tied about half of it. she sewed on the ruffles.

now, this one was made a by a lady in my MIL's ward...she friggin HAND STITCHED it all!!! soo crazy. also silky and delightful.

very impressive.

i think we're gettin there...still have a couple months...well i'd like to be ready at least in a month. she won't be getting a "nursery" so i don't think i'll get too extremely crazy with decorations but i say that now...we will see:)

mi madre's board

i made a board/door whatevs for my mom and here it be...on the lovely floor of my AZ room.

i might've got somewhat crazy with the cream paint color. i spray painted some of it gold, light yellow, white, back over it with light yellow then i painted all of it with a cream i mixed up in a can. i wanted the different yellows to come through when i sanded and i think it happened. some spots are a little more yellow than others.

my plan totally worked.

since i had a million layers of paint on here, some of it came off with the vinyl when i was taking "love" off. but that's ok, no need to be perfect here.

i finished up some more cabinet doors!

i think they turned out pretty good if i do say so myself. just enough chippy antiqueyness [uhh] goin on.

navy with cream and a bit-o-black silk glaze

green with cream and some brown glaze

tis small [words are 12x3] but i think it could be just the right size for the front door or wherever i suppose.
